Overkill, thanks for posting. Do you have anything for shelter in there? It is difficult to tell what some of the items are.

I do have an emegency tent and canvas material for shelter as well. I didn’t have them with me at the time of the photo. And I realized shortly after posting that I probably couldn’t identify some of these components either. So, I have:
    – med kit
    – fire kit
    – bag of 550 cord
    – bundle of climbers rope
    – tourniquette
    – bottle of all purpose oil lubricant
    – emergency survival blanket
    – twine, snare wire, fishing string & hooks
    – duct tape
    – Life Straw
    – AA batteries, LED lantern, Maglite
    – 2 bandanas
    – wool mask
    – 4 undershirts
    – knee pads
    – combat gloves
    – canteen
    – nail clippers, Leatherman, buck knife

Still adding. Anything in there I could probably do without?

Has anyone thought of rat traps instead of snares to catch small game animals ?

I think thats a great idea if you have space. Snared take up such little space that’s probably why, but rat traps are great.

John McCann from survival resources has an article where he took the hardware off the wood base for rat traps and installed it on old signs. He said that he can get four traps in the space he used to carry two.

Do you have a link to the article or can you elaborate? Don’t get why he is attaching rat traps to old signs.

He is taking the hardware off of the wood an attaching it to the signs so that the platform is thinner.
