My wife an I do this exact thing every year. This person talks about how easy it is for their family. Interesting fact, they also only buy 1/4 of a cow just like us. One thing they didn’t cover is that we normally write two checks. One to the farmer and one to the butcher. We usually get around 120-140 pounds of meat, but you pay for hanging weight NOT delivered weight.

This is a good read. Feel free to ask me any questions about this process as we’ve done this for about 3 years now.

I looked into this and locally I am looking @ $5lb hanging weight. After doing some math it was looking like somewhere around $7-8lb for what you get to the table. I know i can goto the local store and get beef WAY cheaper.
Is this just my area, or is this to be expected.
