I think that shovel is pretty cool.

What the heck is up with putting your finger in front of the barrel, shooting yourself, then fainting?

Are you sure it was in front of the barrel? I really though it was the semi-auto bolt carrier group arm that sticks out that came back and tried to take off his thumb after firing his rifle.

That would probably just push the thumb back and out of the way hurting like hell and probably jamming it with some bruising but it looked like his thumb had just a tiny bit of meat holding it onto his hand. Regardless whatever he did, it was a rookie mistake.

I’m not sure what happened and it wasn’t shown again. I thought the guy said he had his thumb in front of the barrel, but not 100% on what he said, since we were talking, lol.

I’ve seen people have chunks of skin taken off their hand from the recoil of a Glock 17 because they had their other hand in the way of the slide action. If ones thumb covered over the rifle’s bolt action as it came back (heck I don’t even remember what he was shooting now) I can’t completely see how it could take off half the skin, muscle, and bust some bones in a way that couldn’t be repaired such as what he is left with. Imagine an AK bolt coming back at full force and your finger being in the way, see ya! Even a 22LR round generates enough force I could see that happening. Keep all body parts out of the way of any moving part at all times or any part that shoots something out of it!

This was a good behind the scenes look at one prepper who was featured on Doomsday Preppers http://www.shtfblog.com/why-be-subjected-to-ridicule-by-appearing-on-national-geographics-doomsday-preppers/

That was a good read and I’d bet more people on that show are not actually preparing for “doomsday” either its just the show lets them select a theme by probably asking them what’s their idea of a worst case scenario.

Found this survey on a blog I follow every now and then ( http://safecastle.blogspot.com/ ) . I thought the answers were interesting, especially question 19. Survey was conducted by NatGeo.

Wow.. did anyone else notice on the latest episode of Doomsday Preppers that the truck driver looked like he was going to have a heart attack when he saw the bill for the cammo netting? It’s like he really wasn’t a ‘prepper’ until NatGeo came along and said they would film him if he was a prepper. He spent $400 on cammo netting to protect a ‘load’ of who knows what (could be dog food for all we know) instead of spending it on his wife who was sick. Honestly, I’m pretty disgusted with how that all went down. Truck drivers don’t make a hell of a lot to start with.

lol..I did a start too..as awhile back one of the pawn shops was almost giving it away as they bought so much they had to store it outside.. I think he planned on camo’ing the tractor and trailer as to use it as a bug in place and a bug out vehicle..me, I would rent a place in the country and get my wife comfortable..set it up to defend as much as possible.stock it well and do my job and hope the crap doesnt start flying before he makes it home..seems like living in that truck as nice as it is has to be hard on that poor woman…besides you know they dont have alot of room for preps in the sleeper cab..and to be honest..she looks like she couldnt stand much of a shtf situation..I do hope she gets better and I wish them the best..that said, this episode wasnt as good as previous ones to me

    Greetings everyone!

I am new to prepping, and also a television producer very excited to be working on a new show being cast about survival and preparedness. Zombielyptic seems like a great community and I wanted to reach out in case anyone here might be interested in participating in this show. As many of you have been commenting, shows can be great for awareness and education in an area like this, and in our show experts will actually be working with participants to help increase that person’s survivability, tailored to the goals and interests of each person or group. In turn, viewers will walk away with tangible and practical advice and ideas. I hope you’ll hear me out and read through the post below–please also spread the word to others! We look forward to hearing from anyone who is interested in learning more. Thanks for your time and consideration!

I also didn’t think the last episode was as good. And the lady with all the pandemic preps seemed a bit much to me. Sure the experts have given a pandemic virus the highest likelihood of any other doomsday prepper event I’ve seen so far but if anything ever happened to need that much medical sanitation supplies she’d likely need lots of other stuff that seemed to be non-existent. I was really bothered by the way the she showed up to grandma & grandpa’s house and they let her in thinking she had some cookies but instead was there to give them heart failure over her presumed pandemic virus that’s coming.
